"No-Motors" Designation
All motorized vessels are strictly prohibited on the waters of Gifford Lake. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) designated Gifford Lake as a "no-motors lake" effective May 3, 2007. This specific local watercraft control is legally classified as WC-43-07-001 . Because it falls under local water controls, there are no exceptions for using low-speed electric motors — all motors are banned to preserve the quiet nature of the lake. This ban includes toys which are powered by gas or electric motors.
